Thankful

Each year, late November in the United States we celebrate gratitude. We pause briefly amidst the frenzy of life to count our blessings.

We gather with those we love around a table heaped with abundance. We bow our head and whisper a prayer of gratefulness for what we hold and those we love.

We are thankful.

We know it is tenuous. We understand life can change in a moment. One phone call, one diagnoses or one meeting with an employer can tip the tower of life one degree too far. Life is fragile and we understand we hold something priceless.

Life is short. Life is precious.

This year, as you gather with family and friends I invite you to breathe deeply. Slow down whenever possible. Treasure those you love. Heal broken relationships if you can. Laugh at your uncle’s terrible jokes. Tell those you sit with they matter. Be present wherever you are. Look into the eyes of strangers and let them know by your smile you see them. Give the gift of your time. It is yours alone to share.

Abba Father, we stand before you in this moment, reaching up, asking for you to touch the bodies, hearts, lives, and homes of those we love, and those we share life with. You are more than enough. We stand with arms raised before you and we are thankful.  Amen.

I pray you are challenged to love well these next few weeks my friend! The world is messy but we can be hope bringers and life givers. Let’s do this!

Thankful for you – Blessings!

  1. Yesterday when I was at Costco, I stopped to say hello to one of the women handing out samples. I didn’t want a sample, I just wanted to say hello. I saw her.
Life is precious. Thank you for the reminder, Nancy.
