Joy

What if we thought of life as a celebration worthy of confetti and each day as a gift to unwrap? The world is messy and you may be facing tomorrow with anything but joy. I get it. No pie in the sky here. Life isn’t easy and I swing it out in the trenches with you my friend. But, can we still choose joy?  I believe the answer is yes.

Choose Joy

Perhaps you are in transition, looking in the mirror seeing skin which should belong to your mother, not you. Empty nester? Facing the end of a longterm relationship? Career ending? Retirement? Illness? Change happens and it’s not easy.

Time marches on and days run one into another. In spite of the unknown, I believe it’s possible to choose joy and live a full-out, doors open wide, wind whipping in our hair kind of life.

Choose Joy

We can choose to live in a normal, every day, quiet sort of way and save up all the good parts of living for someday… or not. Much like saving the “good” dishes for guests who if asked, would tell you they would much rather eat on plain paper plates in the backyard, lights overhead, feet up listening to night sounds and drinking great coffee instead of using fancy china and sitting on proper chairs inside, we can choose joy.

Choose Joy

What if we could see through magic glasses and understand with every fiber of our being we have been given an incredible gift and saw today as our own special occasion

We live in a beautiful world. Yes, there are awful parts, and we will be hurt and experience heartbreak. Things happen which just should not be. But still, we must keep breathing, standing and reaching upwards toward the hand of a God who loves us without measure and promises enough strength to sustain us when hard days come.

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.  Psalm 46 :1 NLT

Choose Joy

When you and I live purposefully and well, when we dance instead of sitting it out even when we don’t know the steps or the music is unfamiliar, we have a chance to embrace our one and only life and live it to the fullest with few regrets. Last year my hubby and I went on our very first cruise. We had the chance to karaoke together. I had never done it before and we were truly awful. But oh, did we have fun! Still, that moment brings us so much joy and laughter.

Laugh out loud until tears run down your cheeks and make squiggly rivers in your makeup. Run into the wind with arms open,  loving big, deep and wide. Don’t care if you look silly or something jiggles which never did before.

My prayer for you my reader is for you to be a chooser of joy. Try something new. Look for joy in the ordinary and sprinkle a little confetti as you step into the world today.  Send a card, smile, celebrate someone or speak a kind word to another.

I would love for you to post in the comments how YOU are choosing joy… and if you would share this post with your circle of people via the links below I would be ever so grateful.

Let’s keep changing the world one smile at a time.

Blessings & Joy –
